“I am thrilled to announce that after the very long Covid19 shutdown Tattenhams Community Library re-opened on Tuesday 22nd of September“
We are a volunteer staffed library and as some of our lovely people are not able to return at the moment we will not be able to maintain our previous opening hours. We will now be closed all day Mondays, open 10-1pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, open 10-5pm Fridays and 10-4pm Saturdays.
We have loads of books that are just waiting for you to take out!
Prior to reopening we have naturally had to conduct a risk assessment with Surrey to reopen the library to ensure we keep our volunteers and visitors to the library safe.
So a number of new procedures have been set up including limiting numbers in the library, social distancing, sanitisers, Perspex screens and also quarantining of returned books.
All visitors will be required to wear face coverings unless exempt. We are not able to provide daily newspapers or allow prolonged browsing but we will have 2 computers for public use as well as the photocopier service. Other events such as Rhymetime, the tea and cake afternoon and other meetings will also not take place for the foreseeable future.
We are always looking to get new Volunteers but following our prolonged close down we do need a few more so if you have a few hours spare we would be please to hear from you. We are a friendly bunch and no experience is needed.
The sessions we really need help for are Friday afternoons (1-3 pm and 3-5pm) and Saturdays (10-1pm and 1-4pm). Tasks include shelving returned books, finding books, answering queries, checking shelves, admin tasks as well as the extra cleaning and sanitising now required. Please don’t worry though as training will be given.
Come along and have a chat with any of the volunteers. If you prefer call in and see me on a Wednesday as that’s the day I’m normally in the library or you could email me at Spackman13@btinternet.com
